Our Wedding

We are so appreciative of our family and friends who will be traveling from out of town for our wedding! Since the festivities fall on a holiday weekend (Monday is Labour Day), we recommend booking your arrangements well in advance. Additionally, there will be significantly more traffic north of Toronto than is typical. If you plan to attend the Welcome Party, be sure to allot enough travel time on Friday for the shuttles departing at 5:15 pm.

Where to fly?

Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ):Toronto is the closest major airport to fly into. Don't forget your passport! From Toronto, you can take a Flixbus or rent a car. Flixbus has a route directly to Port Severn, stopping at the Petro Canada on Lone Pine Rd. Travel time driving from the Toronto Airport to the Honey Harbour / Port Severn area is typically about 1 hour and 30 minutes, but there will be significantly more traffic than usual as it is a holiday weekend. We suggest budgeting for extra time.

Driving from the Detroit Area

For our guests planning to drive, the trip from Detroit to the Honey Harbour / Port Severn area takes approximately six hours. There will be significantly more traffic than is typical because it is a holiday weekend, especially north of Toronto. Don't forget your passport!

A Note on Local Transit

The Honey Harbour - Port Severn area is truly Cottage Country, with no public transportation system nor an infrastructure of taxis, Lyfts, or Ubers. Transportation to and from wedding events will be provided for all hotel guests staying at the Rawley Resort and Christie's Mill, but guests staying elsewhere would find it challenging to get around without a rental car.

We suggest booking a room at the nearby Christie's Mill, just a four minute drive / twelve minute walk from the Rawley Resort. What is the dress code for the wedding? We request our guests don cocktail attire. We urge all guests to wear rubber-soled shoes (for ladies, flats or a very low block heel). This is for your own safety and comfort—the ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outdoors on Burnt Island. Navigating the rocky, uneven terrain in stilettos, high heels, or other shoes without traction would be both extremely challenging and unsafe. We thank you in advance. For guests attending the welcome party, we recommend you bring a sweater or light jacket.

Accessibility

What is the ceremony location? Is it handicap accessible? The ceremony will be held outdoors on Burnt Island, and the rocky terrain is not accessible for those using a wheelchair or walker. What is the reception location? Is it handicap accessible? The reception will be held indoors at the Lighthouse45 Restaurant at the Rawley Resort. The venue is handicap-accessible.

Children

With the exception of the wedding party, we kindly request that the welcome party, ceremony, and reception be adults only, due to open water safety concerns. We thank you in advance.

Transportation

Will transportation be provided to and from wedding events? Yes, transportation to and from events will be provided for guests. Shuttles will transport guests to and from the welcome party, with buses leaving from both the Rawley Resort and Christie's Mill. On Saturday, shuttles will transport guests from the Rawley Resort and Christie's Mill to the Honey Harbour Public Docks. From there, guests will be transported by boat to and from Burnt Island via the Georgian Spirit. Shuttles will then transport guests from the Honey Harbour Public Docks to the Rawley Resort for the reception. For guests driving directly to the Welcome Party and Honey Harbour Public Docks, rather than taking the shuttles, these locations are indicated on the Wedding Map. Following the reception at the Rawley Resort, shuttles will be available to transport guests staying at Christie's Mill.

Are taxis, Lyfts, or Ubers available? No. The Honey Harbour - Port Severn area is truly cottage country, with no public transportation system nor an infrastructure of taxis, Lyfts, or Ubers. We're so excited to share our favorite place with all of you! We encourage you to take some time to enjoy the area between wedding events. Visit Beausoleil Island, the largest island in Georgian Bay Islands National Park, for scenic views of the world's largest freshwater archipelago. Only accessible by boat, you can reach the island by reserving a spot on the Daytripper, by visiting the link below: or calling 1-877-737-3783. The island boasts diverse hiking trails ranging from 0.3 to 2.5 km. For more relaxed trails, the visitor center, mountain bike rentals, and swimming beaches, book your trip to Cedar Spring (the south end of the island). For more challenging hiking with rugged terrain, dramatic elevation changes, and views of granite bedrock and windswept pines, visit the north end of the island and book the Daytripper to Chimney Bay. Georgian Bay Islands National Park

Play a round of golf at Oak Bay, an 18-hole golf course on the eastern shore of breathtaking Georgian Bay. Designed by Shawn Watters, this Par 72 championship course offers something exciting for all golfers. The golf course is carved into the natural woodland setting, with rock outcroppings, water features and plenty of other natural challenges. Located just an eight minute drive from the Rawley Resort.

The Rawley Resort has a range of activities we hope our guests take advantage of. Relax by the pool or take a dip in the bay by visiting the swimming docks to the right of the beach area. For golfers opting to stay on the grounds, book a round at the Rawley Resort's state-of-the-art golf simulator. Need some down time? Visit the sauna or book a treatment at the resort spa. Located just across the street from the entrance to the Rawley Resort, stop by the Trading Post Cabin Cafe for fresh, locally roasted coffee and tasty breakfast food. We love the breakfast bagel sandwiches!
